Valerie Anglen is a Central California abstract painter and artistic environmental designer whose work explores the powerful relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit. For more than four decades, she has transformed schools, homes, churches, offices, nonprofit organizations, and public spaces through large scale original artwork designed not only to beautify an environment but to shape the experiences of those who move through it.

Art has been part of Valerie's life since childhood. She was mentored by her father, a professional artist who recognized her creative potential at an early age and encouraged her to pursue both artistic excellence and technical craftsmanship. Under his guidance, she developed a lifelong appreciation for composition, color, scale, and the emotional impact of visual storytelling. That family legacy laid the foundation for a career built on creativity, service, and the belief that thoughtfully designed environments can improve daily life.

Over time, her career evolved beyond creating individual works of art into designing complete environments where architecture, color, artwork, and human experience work together.

As an artistic environmental designer, Valerie has led interior and exterior design projects across five states and internationally in Mexico. Her commissioned artwork has been permanently installed in schools, corporate offices, medical facilities, churches, private residences, and community spaces, where many of her large handcrafted wood panel paintings serve as focal points that define the character of an entire room.

Her distinctive artistic style combines bold abstract compositions with layered textures, organic movement, and architectural scale. Rather than viewing artwork as decoration, Valerie approaches each piece as an integral part of the environment itself, creating visual experiences that inspire creativity, reflection, comfort, and a greater appreciation for the spaces people experience every day.

Throughout her career, Valerie has remained deeply committed to arts education and community engagement. She founded and led All About Art, an innovative educational initiative that brought professional fine art exhibitions and hands on art instruction directly into elementary schools. Supported through a California Arts Council grant, the program traveled to nine school campuses, exhibiting thirty original paintings while providing free art lessons and supplies to more than 6,000 students.

Building on that success, Valerie expanded her community work through ArtWorks, a volunteer driven program that provides free painting instruction and creative opportunities for underserved youth and families throughout Kern County. She continues to volunteer her time as an art educator, believing that access to meaningful artistic experiences should never be limited by economic circumstances.

Her work has also extended into nonprofit spaces, including creating a sixteen painting collection for Open Door Network, where original artwork was intentionally incorporated into environments serving women and families rebuilding their lives. These projects reflect her belief that art has the power to create places of dignity, hope, and healing.

Over the years, Valerie's paintings have been exhibited in public libraries, schools, galleries, and community venues and have been collected by corporations, nonprofits, businesses, and private collectors throughout California and beyond. Her work can be found in permanent installations from Bakersfield to Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, and Mexico.

Today, Valerie continues to create from her Central California studio, specializing in large scale abstract paintings on handcrafted wood canvases. Whether designing an entire environment or creating a single statement piece, her mission remains the same: to transform ordinary spaces into places that inspire creativity, elevate everyday experiences, and leave a lasting impact on the people who encounter them.
