ArtWorks is a community-based art education program created by Valerie Anglen to bring meaningful, hands-on painting experiences to children who may not otherwise have access to the arts. Through guided instruction in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media, students develop confidence, creativity, and resilience while learning that mistakes are a valuable part of the creative process.
Valerie currently volunteers at the Open Door Network, where she teaches ArtWorks to children experiencing homelessness.
She donates her time, curriculum, and art supplies, making the program fully accessible to every participating student. The children's completed artwork will be displayed throughout the Open Door Network's new facility, celebrating their creativity and reminding them that their voices and stories matter.
ArtWorks is designed to travel and can be adapted for schools, nonprofits, community organizations, and youth programs.
